Pipe bend knowledge

Pipe bend

What is a pipe bend?

Tube bending

Hot bend
Heating the tubing to a certain temperature makes it easier to bend the tubing. Metal will become softer and more elastic at high temperature, so it can reduce the probability of fracture and reduce the bending force. But the disadvantage is that the metal will expand when heated, and the final size and angle will change after bending and cooling.
cold bent tube
The bending is done at the normal temperature of the pipe. The advantage of this method is that it can provide higher precision and the final size will not change due to temperature changes. The following is the processing method of bending pipe at room temperature.

Stamping (stamping bending)

Stamping is to place the profile in the upper and lower molds with curvature, and perform stamping to cause the profile to bend.

This processing method will be selected only when the product requires multiple curvatures and the curvature is too large or too small.

Bend

Bend pipe

Use the clamping die to clamp the outer diameter of the pipe, and at the same time run through the bending die to bend the pipe. If the collapse of the pipe is taken into account, the core bend is usually used, which is to insert the mandrel into the pipe.
The mandrel supports the inside of the tube during bending, preventing the tube from collapsing.

Roll bend

Place the pipe between the upper and lower rollers, and the pipe can be bent by adjusting the height and distance of the rollers. Roll bending is generally used for products with large or multiple bending arcs.
